Customers have long recognized the benefit of offline locks as an inexpensive alternative to a fully hardwired and monitored online access control system. Universities in particular have embraced offline locks for residence hall applications, where the quantity of doors makes an online product cost-prohibitive.
Even with the benefits offered by offline locks, many customers still wrestle with the manpower challenges of issuing cards in a timely fashion to users. The issuance of new cards and replacement of lost cards can be a cumbersome task during normal business hours, but quickly become a serious hassle after hours or during a time of increased demand, such as the start of term at a university.
With the Stanley ID Express™ system, these problems are greatly reduced or possibly eliminated altogether. The Stanley ID Express™ system provides the ability for cardholders to conduct self-managed transactions via a simple and user-friendly interface at a kiosk station. The ability to service cardholders is no longer limited by the availability of administrative staff.
FEATURES/BENEFITS
- Reduces the workload of security staff by allowing cardholders to conduct self- managed transactions via a touch screen interface and a simple, easy-to-use application.
- Existing cards can have
the room assignment or start/expiration date updated.
- Temporary cards can be issued for use until a permanent ID
card can be issued or replaced.
- For security reporting needs, a photo is captured at the start
of each transaction, and stored in the server’s transaction log.
- No cardholder data resides on the local PC. All data securely
resides on a central server, with a simple browser application running
on the local PC at the kiosk station.
- Communication between the Stanley ID Express™ stations and the B.A.S.I.S.® server
occurs via the Local Area Network, utilizing the existing infrastructure
and ensuring that all transactions are secure and utilize only
the most current data.
- During times of increased activity, such as the start of a
university term, temporary desktop stations can be set up to
handle the increased traffic at a lower cost than a full kiosk
station. NOTE: Stanley ID Express™ desktop
stations do not offer a touch screen interface, nor is there
a photo captured during transactions; PC and monitor must be
supplied by customer.
- Heavy-duty construction of kiosk cabinet and desktop enclosures, utilizing commercial grade components to withstand high traffic areas in general, and a residence hall environment specifically. NOTE: The Stanley ID Express™ encoding system products are not designed for outdoor use, and must be located such that it will not be subject to rain, humidity, or extreme temperatures.
- The Stanley ID Express™ Configuration Utility allows the customer to tailor the behavior and appearance of the application to suite their needs. Items that can be customized include:
- Header graphic and background
- Text messages and user prompts
- Retry count, Retry Lockout time, and Idle Timeout
- Temporary card expiration, and whether temporary cards are allowed
- Database fields how they appear on the screen
HOW IT WORKS
- Cardholder initiates transaction by inserting an existing card,
or by touching the screen to issue a temporary card.
- A photo is captured and stored in the transaction log.
- Cardholder enters identification information using touch screen (e.g. first
and last name).
- Cardholder enters verification information using touch screen (e.g. SSN or
other unique ID).
- Inserted card or temporary card is encoded and ejected from encoder.
- Transaction summary screen is displayed with room assignment and if configured,
PIN number.
- The Stanley ID Express™ software communicates directly with the B.A.S.I.S.® software to validate all information. Once the card has been encoded by the Stanley ID Express™, the issue code is incremented in the B.A.S.I.S. software, ensuring that only one valid card is active at all times.
